U.S. signs aviation deal with Vietnam. HANOI - The United States and Vietnam initialed a milestone aviation agreement Thursday that clears the way for direct commercial flights between the two countries for the first time since the Vietnam War ended.
Though it will be a boon to U.S. cargo carriers, the five-year deal appeared to be a mixed blessing for Bay Area passengers, including the many Vietnamese-Americans who make regular flights back to their homeland. More SJMN.
